Life Changes due to Artificial Pacemaker

The pacemaker actually comes in two forms, the natural one and the artificial device. Basically what this does is it ensures that the heart beat of a person is normal. Everyone has a natural pacemaker; however if something is wrong with this, then a cardiologist would need to install the artificial one.

An artificial pacemaker is actually a small device which is then implanted into the patient’s skin. The function of this device is to monitor the patient’s heart and electric signals; if the heart does not send any electric signal to trigger its muscles to beat then the device does so itself thus it ensures a regular heart beat. But, at what cost does this device come?
If a patient is implanted with this artificial device, there are some life changes to face. The good side is that nothing major will have to be done, just simple changes. For one, the patient cannot work or be near any electromagnetic field. The patient also cannot be involved in any full contact sport such as football and hockey to name a few.
Another thing to live by with this device is to have periodic examinations and checkups. These checkups usually come at six month intervals but can change depending on the situation. The physician or cardiologist would need to check everything to see if the device is functioning normally and efficiently and adjust its settings of needed. The device also records any events which occurred so the physician can find the cause of the problem in the first place.
